COVID-19: Four imported cases recorded in Vietnam on Dec. 9

VOV.VN - Four Vietnamese citizens returning from overseas have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the national tally of coronavirus infections to 1,381, the Ministry of Health announced on December 9.

Two of the patients returned to Vietnam from Saudi Arabia, and the other two landed in Vietnam following flights Japan.

All of them were placed in quarantine upon their arrivals at Van Don and Da Nang International Airports, thus posing no risk to the community, the Ministry of Health said in its 18.00hrs update.

They were transferred to health facilities for medical observation and treatment after testing positive for the virus.

Vietnam has so far recorded a total of 1,381 coronavirus cases since the epidemic broke out in the country in late January 2020.

The number of infections is expected to keep rising in the coming days as more and more Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas due to COVID-19 will be repatriated.

Experts say returnees from COVId-19 hit countries will constitute a potential source of virus infection in the community unless quarantine and monitoring work at quarantine facilities is tightened.
