COVID-19: Five new imported cases registered in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnam confirmed five new imported cases of COVID-19 on November 17, bringing the country’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,288, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

All the new patients are Vietnamese citizens who returned to Vietnam from Russia on two repatriation flights on October 31 and November 11, the MoH said in its 18.00hrs update.

Like other returnees, they were all quarantined as soon as they landed in Vietnam, thus posing no risk to the community, said the ministry.

Two of the patients were transferred to the General Hospital of northern Hoa Binh province, and three others to the Hospital for Tropical Disease in central Khanh Hoa province, for medical observation and treatment after testing positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on November 16.

As of 18.00hrs November 17, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,288 coronavirus cases, including 691 locally transmitted cases and 597 imported cases.

As many as 1,124 patients have recovered from the disease, making up 87%. The death toll caused by the virus remains at 35, mostly in Da Nang city, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot.

Currently, 129 active patients are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country and they are all in stable health condition. Of the figure, 34 patients have tested negative at least once.

More than 16,100 people have been placed in quarantine for medical observation nationwide.
