COVID-19: Five imported cases raise national tally to 2,631

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on April 4 reported the detection of a further 5 imported cases, all Vietnamese citizens, including three entering from Angola and two via Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh province.

The three patients entered Van Don Airport from Anglola on flight VN88 on March 31 and were quarantined immediately after their entry in Bac Giang province. 

They are currently isolated to receive treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi's Dong Anh district after their test results came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus three days later.

The remaining two patients entering Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh province were confirmed positive for the virus on April 4. They are being placed into quarantine for treatment at Ben Cau Medical Center.

With the latest addition, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in the nation rose to 2,631, including 1,603 local infections and 1,028 imported cases.

As many as 2,383 patients have made a full recovery from the disease, while the number of related fatalities remains at 35.

Among those who are still receiving treatment, 81 have since tested negative for COVID-19 at least once, while more than 27,470 people are being in quarantine for medical observation nationwide after coming into close contact with confirmed cases or entering the country from pandemic-hit areas.

According to figures released by the National Expanded Immunization Programme, as of April 3, a total of 52,335 people across 19 provinces and cities nationwide have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
