COVID-19: Eight more imported cases confirmed in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed on October 18 eight more returnees from Russia, Australia, and Myanmar have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,134.
One of the eight cases was a 7-month old child, who returned to Vietnam from Australia with his mother on October 15. They were both transferred to a military camp in Tien Giang for quarantine after landing at Can Tho International Airport.
The boy was tested for COVID-19 by the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute and the result came back positive on October 17.
Two other cases were Vietnamese monks returning from Myanmar on October 15 on flight VJ2735. They both tested positive by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute on October 18, and are now receiving treatment at Cam Ranh general hospital in Khanh Hoa province, central Vietnam.
The remaining five cases took flight VN5062 from Russia to Vietnam on October 16. They all tested positive the following day and were transferred to Hospital No2 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province.
As of 18.00hrs October 18 Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,134 coronavirus cases, including 35 deaths. As many as 1,031 patients have gone on to make a full recovery.
The country has gone through 46 consecutive days without new locally transmitted cases. The number of people who had contact with COVID-19 patients and returned from epidemic hit countries has increased to 13,515.
