COVID-19: domestic case count surges by 100 over six hours
VOV.VN - The Health Ministry reported the latest detection of 100 more local COVID-19 cases over the past six hours to June 14 noon, raising the overall number of domestic infections in the country’s latest COVID-19 wave to 7,523.
Among the newly-detected cases, Bac Giang topped the list with 69, followed by Ho Chi Minh City wth 26, Hanoi with 4, and Ha Tinh with 1, of which 94 were detected in isolation or blockade areas.
The cases in Bac Giang province were detected in isolation and lockdown areas related to workers working in industrial zones, while those in Hanoi and Ha Tinh province are F1 contacts linked to infected patients and are under epidemiological investigation.
The cases in the southern metropolis are related to the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, and a Christian congregation based in Go Vap District.
In the face of the rapid spread of the virus, HCM City administration has decided to extend its current social distancing period by another two weeks due to ongoing coronavirus concerns, following a proposal by the municipal health department on June 14.
HCM City has recorded 845 domestic infections in the latest coronavirus wave since late April. June 13 saw the city record 95 local COVID-19 cases, its highest number of daily infections since the pandemic first hit Vietnam early last year.
The nation has so far registered 10,730 active COVID-10 cases, including 1,637 imported infections and, 9,093 locally-transmitted cases.
