COVID-19 cases reach 1,172 as three more detected upon arrival

VOV.VN - Vietnam recorded a further three imported novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on October 27, raising the nation’s overall number to 1,172, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the new registered cases, two are Indian experts who entered Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City on flight 6E9471 on October 6 and were isolated right after their arrival in Ho City Minh City.

Earlier, as many 18 cases positive for nCoV were confirmed on the same flight.

The remaining case is a Vietnamese national who also entered Tan Son Nhat airport on flight VN5010 from France on October 21. There were six patients diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus on this flight.

All the new patients are being put in quarantine to undergo treatment in Dong Thap and Ba-Ria Vung Tau provinces.

Of the total cases in the nation, 691 COVID-19 infections have occurred domestically, with 551 being reported since July 25 following the second wave hitting the country.  

Along with the detection of three fresh cases on October 27, a further one patient was given the all-clear, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,062, while the death toll remains at 35.

Among the patients still receiving treatment, 5 have since tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 1 negative twice, and 9 negative three times. Most notably, at present no patient is in critical condition.

Furthermore, there are now more than 14,770 individuals who came into close contact with confirmed cases or who have come back from pandemic-hit regions who have been placed into quarantine, including over 170 in hospitals, and the remainder at other quarantine sites, at home or at accommodation facilities.

According to the Ministry of Health, the second wave of the outbreak has successfully been brought under control. However, there is a possibility that the COVID-19 situation may get worse during the winter-spring season, with the ministry continuing to recommend that local people don face masks and regularly wash their hands with sanitizer.
