COVID-19: 73 domestic infections recorded in Vietnam on May 13

VOV.VN - Vietnam recorded a total of 73 new cases of local transmission and 14 imported infections on May 13, said the Ministry of Health.

May 13 evening saw the nation register 19 new locally-transmitted cases, with all having been put under control within quarantine areas.

The imported cases were immediately placed into isolation after entering the nation from Hungary, the Philippines, Malaysia and the Republic of Korea.

The national infection tally rose to 3,710, including 2,253 domestic infections along with 1,457 imported cases. A total of 683 cases have now been documented since the fourth COVID-19 wave hit the country on April 27.

The same day, a further 21 coronavirus patients were declared to be clear of the virus, raising the total recoveries to 2,657.
Furthermore, a total of 77,648 people who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients, or who arrived from pandemic-hit areas, have been placed into various quarantine facilities nationwide.

Among those who are receiving treatment for the pandemic, 122 have tested negative for COVID-19 at least once.

The nation has recorded 683 domestic infections across 26 cities and provinces so far, with the majority of cases being recorded in northern and central localities.

May 13 alone witnessed the country document a total of 73 cases involving local transmissions in 10 provinces and cities, with the central city of Da Nang registering the highest number at 32.
