COVID-19: 44 more community cases confirmed, two hotspots take most

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) said an additional 44 locally transmitted coronavirus cases have been detected during the past six hours, including 32 cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh COVID-19 hotspots.

Bac Giang, the country’s largest COVID-19 hotspot, confirmed 26 more cases, with most cases closely linked to the current coronavirus outbreaks at Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks (IPs), the MoH said in its COVID-19 update at 12.00am on May 20

Elsewhere, six cases were announced in Bac Ninh, six in Hanoi (including four at the K Cancer Hospital No2), four in Dien Bien, and one in Da Nang.

Thai Nguyen is the latest locality in Vietnam that has reported the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A local resident working at Quang Chau IP tested positive and was transferred to Hanoi for treatment.

Vietnam has recorded  1,721 community cases in 30 cities and provinces across the country since the virus recurred in late April.

Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are the country’s two largest coronavirus hotspots, registering approximately 1,000 cases.

In its morning update, the MoH announced 30 more cases, including 21 in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh.
