COVID-19: 34 fresh COVID-19 community cases confirmed on Jan 30 morning
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on January 30 morning reported the detection of a further 34 new COVID-19 community cases, taking the national infection tally to 1,739.
Notably, 32 of the newly detected cases are linked to the hotspot in Chi Linh city, the northern province of Hai Duong.
The two others are from Ha Long city and Van Don district, the northern province of Quang Ninh, with one related to a coronavirus patient in Hai Duong and another having close contact with the original patient – an employee at Van Don International Airport who was confirmed positive the virus on January 28.
Also on the morning of January 30, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent telegraph to request drastic pandemic prevention and control measures and place a ward of Ayun Pa town and a health center in La Pa town in lockdown following the latest detection of the two positive COVID-19 cases.
Since community transmissions reemerged in Vietnam on January 28, Hai Duong has registered 157 positive cases and Quang Ninh 20, becoming the biggest COVID-19 hotspots in the nation.
Infections have then spread to the neighboring Hai Phong City and Bac Ninh province, as well as Hanoi, with 180 cases in total.
In another development, more than 2,000 workers quarantined at Vietnam Poyun Electronics (POYUN) Co., Ltd in Chi Linh city, the northern province of Hai Duong, were transferred to six concentrated quarantine areas in the city on January 29 night, according to Chairman of the city’s People’s C ommittee Nguyen Van Kien.
The factory, where many COVID-19 cases were detected in recent days, has been placed into lock down. Enterprises operating in the locality are required to strictly comply with epidemic prevention regulations.
Hai Duong, the current biggest COVID-19 hotspot in the country, is deploying a broad range of drastic measures at the highest level, to contain the outbreak, especially reactivating the local COVID-19 taskforce.
