COVID-19: 277 more locally transmitted cases detected in Vietnam on single day
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) recorded an additional 141 coronavirus cases in eight localities over the past six hours, raising the country’s daily tally of infections to 277.
Bac Giang province remained the country’s largest COVID-19 hotspot, logging 67 more cases during the past six hours.
Ho Chi Minh City emerged as a new coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam, recording 29 new cases, including 28 cases closely linked to the outbreak at the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Go Vay district.
Elsewhere, 25 new cases were documented in Hanoi, seven each in Hanoi and Lang Son, three in Ha Nam, two in Hai Duong and one in Long An.
Notably a Japanese expert working for Canon Vietnam in Bac Ninh, another COVID-19 hotspot tested positive for the virus. The patient lives in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district.
The MoH data show 277 local infections have been recorded in Vietnam during the past 24 hours, including 170 in Bac Giang, 52 in Bac Ninh, 29 in Ho Chi Minh City, and seven in Hanoi.
Tay Ninh and Bac Lieu were the latest two localities that have registered infections in the community.
Vietnam has confirmed 3,784 locally transmitted cases in 34 cities and provinces across the country since the virus emerged in late April.
