The newly detected cases are all Vietnamese citizens who entered the home country from Russia, Germany and Angola. They were put in quarantine right after landing at local airports and they are now under health observation for COVID-19 treatment.
Among all the cases, 691 are domestically infected cases, including 551 linked with Da Nang city since the latest coronavirus wave hit the city on July 25.
According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, two more coronavirus patients were released from hospital the same day, raising the number of recoveries to 1,051.
Among patients under treatment at medical establishments across the country, 4 tested negative for the virus once, 3 others twice and 16 thrice.
Currently, there is no COVID-19 patient in critical conditions, while 35 deaths due to the virus have been recorded so far.
Currently, there are nearly 14,150 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions under quarantine.
The risk of COVID-19 transmission in the nation remains high as more repatriation flights are conducted to bring Vietnamese citizens and foreign experts home. People need to comply with continued strict implementation of epidemic prevention measures, the Health Ministry said.
Vietnam has gone through 52 consecutive days without infections in the community.
