Competition launched to encourage digital innovation solutions among young people
VOV.VN - A competition to encourage digital innovation solutions among young people was jointly launched in Hanoi on April 23 by the Voice of Vietnam Radio (VOV), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Vietnam) and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

The competition “Youth Digital Innovation Challenge” themed “Bridging the Digital Divide”, emphasises the importance of enhancing digital skills for young people and bringing technology and digital tools closer to communities, especially those in vulnerable groups or disadvantaged areas.
It aims to encourage creative ideas and innovative solutions that empower people to effectively engage in the digital economy and contribute to the development of a digital society. This, in turn, promotes equality, sustainable development, and an improved quality of life.
The competition is open to Vietnamese youth aged 9 to 35, currently residing in the country. It encourages participation from diverse groups, especially those from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds.
Projects will be evaluated over criteria such as innovation and creativity; practicality and applicability; sustainability and scalability; and implementation plan.
A panel of judges will evaluate and select up to 10 outstanding projects to be showcased in a final ceremony slated for Hanoi on June 20, 2025.

The launch was part of the programme “Skill Our Future – Enhancing Digital Capacity for Youth” that took place on the same day at National Economics University - Hanoi.
In their presentations, speakers agreed that as Vietnam enters a new phase of accelerated digital transformation to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), the need for a high-quality workforce equipped with digital knowledge and skills has become increasingly critical and decisive.
They underscored that digital skills play a vital role in preparing young people for the labour market, particularly as the Fourth Industrial Revolution continues to reshape the skills landscape and the nature of work. With their adaptability and quick access to digital technologies, the youth have the potential to seize better employment opportunities and become a highly competitive workforce, both in Vietnam and internationally.

Indeed, the Vietnamese Party and the State have placed significant emphasis on and invested heavily in enhancing digital capacity for young people, recognising it as a national strategic priority. The government has approved the National Digital Transformation Programme to 2025, with a vision to 2030, showing Vietnam’s strong commitment to promoting digital transformation in employment and entrepreneurship, among others.
In addition, the government has also endorsed several key initiatives, including the programme Digital Transformation in Vocational Education to 2025 with a Vision to 2030, and the project Strengthening Application of Information Technology and Digital Transformation in Education and Training for 2022–2025 with a Vision to 2030.
These programmes aim to build a digitally literate generation capable of driving change, improving access to job opportunities, and staying ready for the future.
