Coastal cities and provinces brace for impact of typhoon Bailu

VOV.VN - The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control  has sent a public dispatch to coastal cities and provinces from Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh, urging relevant agencies to prepare for the impact of typhoon Bailu.

On the morning of August 24, the centre of the typhoon was located at approximately 160km south-south east of Taiwan, with the weather event moving north-west at a speed of 25 km per hour.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control  has requested that ministries, sectors, and local authorities from the provinces of Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh closely follow the typhoon’s movement and take action in order to reduce the damage caused by the extreme weather.

Preventive measures include informing vessels at sea about the typhoon’s movements, guiding them to safe shelters if necessary, evacuating residents in areas vulnerable to flooding, dealing with the impact of landslides, shoring up dykes and reservoirs, and preparing personnel and materials to make a timely response to any emergencies that occur.
