Coast Guard Region 3 braces for typhoon Koto, mobilizes nearly 1,000 personnel
VOV.VN - Amid the complex developments of typhoon Koto (Storm No. 15 of 2025 in Vietnam), the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 has established a steering board for storm prevention and control and mobilized nearly 1,000 officers and soldiers along with multiple vessels, ready to carry out search and rescue operations if requested.
Forecasts indicate typhoon Koto is likely to move into the central region, directly affecting localities from Da Nang City to Khanh Hoa province.
Following directives from the Vietnam Coast Guard Commander, Coast Guard Region 3 organized a working delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Tran Dong, Deputy Commander of the Region, to directly inspect and guide units in implementing response measures.
The Regional Commander instructed all agencies and units to fully embrace a proactive and urgent mindset, avoid complacency, maintain strict command, duty, and 24-hour combat readiness, ensure uninterrupted communications, and prepare comprehensive search and rescue plans both at sea and on islands.
Units across the Region have deployed personnel and equipment under the “four on-site” principle, maintaining rapid response teams ready to handle any situation promptly and effectively.
Coast Guard forces are coordinating with the Border Guard and other relevant agencies to advise and guide fishermen in moving vessels to safe shelters. Units’ ships and boats maintain strict reporting protocols, reinforce equipment, and prepare personnel to assist civilians once the typhoon makes landfall.
They are ready to support other forces and local authorities upon orders, while also strengthening barracks, clearing drainage systems, and ensuring absolute safety for personnel and assets.
With the spirit of “saving people is a command from the heart,” officers and soldiers of Coast Guard Region 3 remain fully committed, ready to work closely with local authorities and relevant forces to implement storm-prevention plans, assist in evacuation and emergency response, and minimize damage as typhoon Koto impacts the mainland.
