Clean water plant inaugurated in Long An

A clean water plant with total investment of 650 billion VND (more than 27.9 million USD) was put into operation in Thu Thua district, the Mekong Delta province of Long An on April 20.

At the inauguration ceremony
Covering 31 ha in Nhi Thanh commune, the plant was equipped with modern technology.

With maximum capacity of 80,000 cu.m per day, the Nhi Thanh plant  is expected to provide clean water for Tan An city, and the districts of Thu Thua, Tan Tru, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc and Can Duoc.

It uses uBCF bio-filtration technology, which is applied in many developed countries. This environmentally friendly technology helps improve raw water quality without using chemicals and meets standards regulated by the Ministry of Health.

The plant also uses the Ostwald Filtration Systems (OSF) to save energy and remove toxic components in treated water.

Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said the locality is making every effort to restrict the exploitation of groundwater resources and minimise saline intrusion and depression caused by climate change.

The project is part of the province’s policy to mobilise social resources for developing clean water systems, thus improving people's health, he said.
