Centrally-run hospital doctor infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus

VOV.VN - A doctor who has treated COVID-19 patients at a centrally-run hospital in Hanoi has tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC) reported on October 6 evening.

Doctor Q, 42, works at the Department of Viruses – Parasites of Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh district.

He was diagnosed with the virus during periodical test screening on October 5, said the Hanoi CDC.   

The doctor was said to have directly treated COVID-19 patients at the hospital in recent times.

Hanoi recorded seven new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, with six cases closely linked to the ongoing outbreak at Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital.

Relevant agencies have confirmed a total of 52 cases since the first was recorded at Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital a week ago.

Forty of them live in Hanoi, and the remaining 12 cases come from Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Ha TInh and Hai Duong.
