Cargill funds school project in Mekong Delta

VOV.VN - An elementary school in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre in southern Vietnam has opened its doors thanks to funding provided by Cargill under the umbrella of an ongoing employee-led initiative that began in 1995.

The 3-classroom school constructed at a cost of roughly US$50,000 will allow 100 rural students each school year from low income families access to a good education and a chance at a better life.

The school is the 80th the Cargill school-building program has funded in Vietnam. In addition to support from the corporation, funds are raised from Cargill employees, suppliers and customers.

We are incredibly proud to have reached our 80th school milestone and to have raised more than US$4 million for the program to date, said Cargill Vietnam, adding that we are committed to continue supporting our country’s future leaders.
