Canada, Czech Republic observe 126th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh
VOV.VN - The 126th birthday of late President Ho Chi Minh was celebrated at a gathering in Montreal, Canada on May 15 with the gift of a painting of Uncle Ho to the Vietnam Embassy by Canadian artist Etienne Gelinas.
At the birthday bash, author Dr Nguyen Dai Trang also introduced guests to her two books on the life of Uncle Ho and his teachings, which were first published in 2010 and 2013.
“There are many reasons, to pay respects to the late president – his many accomplishments, his character, his leadership,” said Dr Trang. “For me, it’s his love of the common man.”
Vietnam Ambassador to Canada To Anh Dung praised the president for his military leadership and his support for the nation’s high ideals. He praised the late president for his pride in Vietnam.
While many citizens today are too young to have known Uncle Ho, they all benefit from his leadership, said Ambassador Dung.
“Ho Chi Minh was truly magnificent,” said Ambassador to the Czech Republic Truong Manh Son. “You just get a shot in your arm of patriotism, reminiscing about the greatest president we ever had.”
Ambassador Son spoke at length telling the guests about the childhood of President Ho Chi Minh through his later years when he travelled abroad to save the nation as well as the last years of his life.
“Ho Chi Minh believed in high moral values, and he spoke of them often,” said Ambassador Son.
