Cambodia, Vietnam join hands in repatriating remains of Vietnamese martyrs
VOV.VN - Vietnam's southern An Giang province and Koh Kong province of Cambodia on October 6 signed a memorandum of cooperation for the search, recovery, and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who lost their lives in Cambodia during wartime, under the 25th phase for the 2025–2026 dry season.

The signing ceremony was co-chaired by Le Trung Ho, Vice Chairman of the An Giang provincial People’s Committee and Head of the province’s steering committee, and Hak Leng, Deputy Governor. It was also attended by leaders of various departments and agencies from both provinces.
In his speech, Le Trung Ho said that under the Agreement signed on August 28, 2000, between the Governments of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia, An Giang’s two search and repatriation teams have recovered 4,286 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs across six Cambodian provinces.
In Koh Kong province alone, Team K92 has found 160 remains, including two in the 2024-2025 dry season. He attributed these results to the close coordination and heartfelt support of Koh Kong’s authorities, armed forces, and residents, who have provided valuable information, guidance, and protection for the search missions.
The signing ceremony reaffirmed the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia and expressed deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for peace, independence, and the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
For his part, Hak Leng hailed the effective cooperation between the two sidesand affirmed that Koh Kong Province will continue to provide active support in surveying, information sharing, and coordination to ensure the successful completion of the 2025–2026 dry season mission and future phases.
On this occasion, the An Giang delegation handed over financial support from the Vietnamese Government to the Koh Kong task force to facilitate their cooperation efforts, and presented gifts to express gratitude to the local authorities, armed forces, and people of Koh Kong for their assistance to An Giang’s special task force and Team K92 in fulfilling their duties.
