Ca Mau takes urgent actions to prevent African swine fever

VOV.VN - The southernmost province of Ca Mau has imposed a ban on the transportation of pigs and pork products that are without origin and quarantine certificates through the localityto prevent the spreading of the African swine flu (ASF) epidemic, according to Nguyen Tien Hai, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Accordingly, the ban came into force as of May 15 and will last until the ASF epidemic is eliminated.

Mr Hai also requested that quarantine checkpoints, inspection teams, and relevant agencies strengthen their supervision of pigs and pork products that are without origin and quarantine certificates when trying to enter Ca Mau province.

Notably, the first signs of infected pigs and any symptoms of ASF should be immediately reported to local authorities, so necessary measures can be taken.

Earlier, under the Prime Minister’s directive to enforce synchronised measures to prevent the ASF epidemic, in late February, the provincial People’s Committee directed relevant agencies and localities in the region to take prompt actions to prevent the epidemic.
