Ca Mau crab sets Vietnam record for largest of its kind
VOV.VN - A 1.82kg crab raised in the Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau has been recognised as the largest crab ever recorded in Vietnam, further enhancing the reputation of the province’s renowned seafood product.
The record certificate for “Vietnam’s largest Ca Mau crab” was presented on February 12 at the provincial Department of Science and Technology to Du Thai Binh Co., Ltd., whose crab measured 19.97 centimetres across its shell.
The achievement was announced by the Vietnam Records Organisation (VietKings) and will be published in its annual record compendium, as well as disseminated through national media channels.
The company had previously won first prize at the Ca Mau Crab Festival in both 2023 and 2025. The latest recognition is seen as further affirmation of the province’s crab quality and its growing brand value in domestic and international markets.
Du Thai Binh, director of Du Thai Binh Co., Ltd., described the record as a source of pride and motivation not only for the company but also for local crab farmers. He expressed hope that the recognition would encourage producers to continue improving quality standards and help elevate the Ca Mau crab brand globally.
Ca Mau, located at Vietnam’s southernmost tip, is widely known for its brackish-water crab farming, with the product considered one of the province’s key agricultural specialties.
