Bus passenger numbers see significant surge during Tet holiday

VOV.VN -During the peak period of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, the number of passengers using bus services in Hanoi soared by 300% to 400% to 187,000 daily arrivals, compared to normal days.

The peak period, from January 25 to February 2, saw workers and students returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

Starting from February 3, employees and workers in state agencies and businesses, as well as officials, returned to major cities to begin their first working day after the holiday.

At Giap Bat Bus Station, peak days saw approximately 16,500 passengers per day, with the busiest routes connecting Hanoi to Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa provinces. Similarly, My Dinh Bus Station recorded 16,500 passengers per day, with popular routes to northern provinces like Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai .At Gia Lam Bus Station, around 3,600 passengers per day traveled to Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang provinces.

In total, public buses in Hanoi served 6.5 million passengers during the reviewed period. Additionally, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway, Hanoi's first metro project, welcomed over 229,000 passengers during the same time.
