British tourist passes away, donates organs to save 3 Vietnamese patients

VOV.VN - Vietnam – Germany University Hospital in Hanoi on April 7 reported a remarkable organ donation by a 19-year-old British tourist, providing life-saving opportunities for multiple patients suffering from organ failure in Vietnam.

The young woman, O.S.W., fell seriously ill while traveling in Vietnam and was admitted to the hospital. Despite intensive medical efforts, her condition did not improve. Following multiple consultations, the hospital’s medical board confirmed that she had passed away with brain death.

In a profoundly moving decision, her family chose to donate her organs and tissues, giving a chance of life to other patients. This act of humanity transcends nationality, race, and language, connecting the life of a young traveler with those waiting for a second chance.

Her father said they believe Vietnam is a special place in their daughter’s heart, and contributing something small after her final days here feels deeply meaningful.

Her mother also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the medical team and everyone who cared for her daughter, saying her daughter had the best time here and she would love every minute of it.
Thanks to her organ donation, three patients successfully received transplants, offering them a new lease on life. While the journey ended in loss, it highlights the profound humanity, generosity, and international spirit in medicine.
