Bridge to Kim Cuong Island opens to traffic

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport officially opened the bridge to Kim Cuong Island on the morning of May 30, connecting Thach My Loi residential area with Mai Chi Tho Avenue.

The bridge over the Giong Ong To River is more than 291m long, 22m wide, and is designed to carry four lanes of traffic. The project has a total investment capital of VND347 billion from the state budget and businesses which will benefit from the project.

This is one of the projects along the Sai Gon River route, linking Mai Chi Tho to Phu My Bridge. It will help shorten travel times from the region to Tran Nao, Luong Dinh Cua roads, and to Ho Chi Minh City’s central areas.

Le Ngoc Hung, director of Urban Transport Management No.2 and a project investor, said it will help to ease traffic congestion in the area, especially on Dong Van Cong Road to Cat Lai Port.

The Urban Transport Management No.2 will continue to implement many other projects to relieve traffic congestion in Cat Lai port areas in the coming time such as building the My Thuy intersection, a road linking Cat Lai Port to the belt road No 2 and Ba Cua Bridge, and an expansion of Dong Van Cong Road.
