Binh Duong considers purchase of over three million COVID-19 vaccine doses

VOV.VN - The Health Department of the southern province of Binh Duong has submitted plans to the provincial People’s Committee regarding the purchase of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines for local people.

This comes after the province has shown an interest in buying over three million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to inoculate over 1.4 million people over the age of 18, according to Nguyen Hong Chuong, director of the provincial Health Department.

The locality plans to make use of the local budget in order to buy the vaccines and is set to offer them to local residents for free.

Binh Duong has competently performed pandemic prevention and control efforts. However, amidst complex developments relating to the spread of COVID-19 in other countries and fears regarding acts of illegal entry, the Health Department now requires localities to carry out drastic measures.

This is being directed by the Government, Health Ministry, and provincial People’s Committee, thereby serving to meet the dual goals of controlling the pandemic whilst maintaining local socio- economic development.
