Belarus aid shipment arrives for disaster-affected residents in Quang Tri
VOV.VN - More than 27 tonnes of relief aid donated by the Belarusian Government for residents of the central province of Quang Tri affected by natural disasters were received on June 11 at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang City.
The shipment included essential food items such as sweetened condensed milk, refined sugar, and bedding sets.
After reception procedures are completed, the goods will be transported to Quang Tri for distribution to households affected by recent natural disasters.
According to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the assistance for Vietnamese people affected by natural disasters was approved by the Council of Ministers of Belarus in March 2026.
At the handover ceremony, Belarusian Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Oleg Shloma said his nation is always ready to stand alongside and support the brotherly people of Vietnam during difficult times. He expressed hope that the shipment will provide practical assistance to Vietnamese families affected by natural disasters.
Continuing this tradition will help further strengthen the Strategic Partnership established between the two countries in May 2025, as well as friendship between their people, while promoting inter-regional cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, he added.
Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee Le Van Bao expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Government and people of Belarus, saying the shipment will help disaster-affected households stabilise their lives and recover from losses.
According to Le Van Bao, the essential goods will help improve living conditions in the short term and strengthen preparedness and response capacity ahead of the 2026 rainy and storm season.
Quang Tri authorities will direct relevant agencies to promptly distribute the goods to intended beneficiaries as soon as possible.
The essential supplies demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, sharing and friendship between the people of Belarus and Vietnam.
