Australian farms set to recruit Vietnamese agricultural workers
VOV.VN - Australian farms want to recruit Vietnamese agricultural workers, National Farmers' Federation (NFF) President Hamish McIntyre told Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam during a working session on October 13.
Highlighting Vietnam’s fast-growing agricultural market, McIntyre noted that the NFF, which represents roughly 80,000 farm owners and 32 affiliated organizations since its founding in 1979, is actively pursuing cooperation with Vietnamese partners.
The NFF expressed readiness to support visiting Vietnamese delegations interested in studying Australian farm models. Member farms within the NFF network also want to recruit Vietnamese agricultural labor while expanding exports to Vietnam, targeting key products such as beef, lamb, wine, cotton, and wool.
In response, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam outlined the key strengths and potential of Vietnam’s agricultural sector, current government priorities, and specific localities calling for foreign investment, particularly from Australia.
Ambassador Tam noted strong interest among Vietnamese farmers' associations and agribusinesses to exchange expertise with the NFF, confirming his readiness to help the Federation connect with the Vietnam Farmers' Union, local authorities, and interested enterprises.
He urged the NFF to introduce Australian partners with potential in high-tech agriculture, aquaculture, and seafood processing, alongside reputable exporters to prepare for the entry of Kangaroo meat into Vietnam under a newly reached bilateral agreement.
Ambassador Tam also supported the NFF in continuing to work with Australian government agencies on recruiting Vietnamese agricultural workers to help carry out the labor agreement previously signed between the two countries.
