Speaking at the event, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said the Vietnamese Party and State have issued many policies and guidelines to build a learning society that enables people to pursue continuing and life-long learning.
In 2005, the Prime Minister approved a project on building a learning society for the 2005-2010 period, which produced encouraging results. Later on January 9, 2013, the PM issued Decision No.89/QD-TTg approving the project for the 2012-2020 period.
Nha wished that the event would afford Vietnam a chance to share experience with ASEM member states and access the latest research results about adult education and life-long learning.
He hoped to acquire foreign experts’ consultations on organising life-long learning activities in different forms, supported by information and communications technology and open education resources.
Vice President of the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education Phil Hanil Ulf-Daniel Ehlers called for building a suitable learning ecological system for personal development
Participants shared experience in recognising study results under regular and irregular models to encourage learning throughout the life, and policy making towards a life-long learning culture.
