Art exhibition honours mothers of sons who died in war
VOV.VN - A special exhibition opened at Book Road in Ho Chi Minh City today (July 21) to commemorate the women who sacrificed so much during the country’s wars and were forced to endure the loss of their children serving in the military.
The exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, July 27, features 100 of the best sketches by artist Dang Ai Viet, 65, from the province of Tien Giang. |
At the exhibition, Ai Viet shares that she draws to pay tribute to the Vietnamese mothers who live with the shattering news that their son or daughter did not return from war and are gone from this world. |
The exhibition is a touching memorial to the earthly bond of love a mother has for her child and a reminder to the country that they should never forget the ultimate sacrifice made by soldiers. |
Ai Viet says she has sketched more than 1,475 portraits of the mothers of fallen soldiers nationwide. |
She hopes that this exhibition will serve in some small way as a reminder to people of the unique sacrifice and the crushing grief suffered by these mothers who relinquished their children. |
Ai Viet shares that she has spent her lifetime following the advice of her mother and using her art to instil in Vietnamese a love of country. |
The exhibition is also an opportunity for the youth of the country to learn of their heritage and the love of homeland and the special importance on serving and defending our country, Ai Viet notes. |
