An additional 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses arrive in Vietnam

VOV.VN - A shipment of 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-10 vaccine arrived in Vietnam on September 14 to support the ongoing national vaccination campaign, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology reported.

The new shipment raised the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses Vietnam has received from partners for the past three days to 3 million.

The Ministry of Health is expected to allocate the vaccines shortly to localities to ensure the inoculation of booster doses is on the right track. It is also coordinating with donors and agencies to receive more vaccines for various age groups.

According to the Ministry of Health, nearly 260 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide. However, the inoculation of the doses for children aged 5 to 17 remains slow going.

Vietnam recorded 3,107 new cases of COVID-19 on September 14, a decrease of nearly 200 cases compared to the previous day. Also the same day saw about 45,300 patients recover from the virus, 15 times more than the number of new infections.

So far, nearly 11.5 million coronavirus cases have been documented in Vietnam, including 10.4 million recoveries and more than 43,000 deaths.
