Air traffic control in check as Prapiroon makes landfall
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) called on relevant aviation units to enhance air traffic control measures on July 23 to ensure flight safety in case heavy rain and strong winds caused by storm Prapiroon batter Van Don and Cat Bi airports in Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city that are anticipated to be hit hard by the storm.
The VATM has requested that aviation meteorological agencies work to strengthen supervision and proactively provide notification about dangerous situations which occur to ensure that air traffic management units can devise safe and effective plans for flight operations.
At present, flight management units have worked to increase their workforce to timely inform airlines to reschedule their flights both to and from the airports in affected areas.
Local carriers, namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways, have all advised passengers to proactively check flight information and specific schedules to avoid traffic jams as flooding could cause flight delays.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) sent a telegram to relevant agencies in the aviation industry and Vietnamese airlines to take proactive measures aimed at effectively responding to the impact of Storm Prapiroon.
Accordingly, Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh will be directly affected by the storm, while Cat Bi Airport in Haiphong, Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa, and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi are also set to see spells of rain and thunderstorms.
