AI and social media set to transform tourism industry

VOV.VN - Many tourism and travel businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have begun applying AI and social media to promote products, analyze data, provide consultation services, and reach target customers.

On May 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association hosted a program for tourism businesses and entrepreneurs to connect, share, and explore development opportunities, with a focus on applying AI and TikTok in digital management.

The event gathered technology and social media experts, along with many representatives from travel operators in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the event, Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, stressed that digital transformation is an inevitable trend for the tourism sector. He noted that the city still holds great potential for tourism growth and that digitalisation will help improve operational efficiency and strengthen connections among tourism stakeholders, particularly through the development of a shared data system.

Many travel firms in the city have already integrated AI and social media into their marketing and management processes. According to experts and company representatives, these tools are poised to open new avenues for industry development in the coming years.

In particular, AI algorithms can support tourism companies by optimizing operations such as data analysis, forecasting customer demand, recommending business strategies, designing tours, promoting products, and providing consultation services.

In tandem with AI, social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube have become essential channels for engaging potential customers, especially through livestreams and short-form videos. Experts observed that more than 80% of travelers rely on online reviews, videos, and other digital content when making booking decisions.

Furthermore, the effective use of AI and social networks helps tourism businesses overcome language barriers, thereby expanding their global reach.
