African swine fever wreaks havoc in Da Nang
VOV.VN - Phan Duy Anh, vice chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Vang district in Da Nang, signed a decision on August 8 to officially declare African swine fever in the two communes of Hoa Ninh and Hoa Phong in Hoa Vang district in the central city.
He also announced that the at-risk areas include Hoa Phu, Hoa Son, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien, Hoa Nhon, and Hoa Lien communes.
According to details of the cases, the district People's Committee has duly asked local authorities to zone off affected areas in order to prevent the spread of the virus, as well as implementing measures aimed at controlling and eradicating the outbreaks.
They were also requested to destroy infected, suspected, or deceased pigs, as well as to restrict the access of local residents to areas with sick or dead livestock. Meanwhile, entry to affected areas must be limited.
All slaughtering, as well as the import export of pigs and pork products within the outbreak zones has been temporarily halted, except where transportation is authorized.
Disinfection should be carried out in affected areas and high-risk areas, while quarantine checkpoints will be established. So far, local authorities of the two communes have culled 40 infected pigs belonging to four households.
Public awareness campaigns were also promoted to ensure residents are informed and can take proactive measures to prevent the further spread of the disease.
