African swine fever detected in Cao Bang

VOV.VN - The first outbreak of African swine fever has been discovered in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang, according to the Cao Bang Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary.

The first signs of the African swine fever (ASF) virus were detected in the locality at a breeding area in a pig farm belonging to a family in Tan Giang ward of Cao Bang city.

The results of samples taken from the pig farm were tested positive for the ASF virus. Due to current regulations, the entire flock of pigs at the farm had to be culled.

Aside from spraying disinfectants throughout the pig farm to prevent the spread of the outbreak, relevant agencies have been working with local authorities to strengthen the dissemination on the epidemic.

In addition, they have also asked local residents to obey regulations relating to the transportation of pigs and other pork product as well as setting up quarantine stations at major transport routes leading to affected areas.
