Activities to mark International Francophonie Day

(VOV) -A number of activities will be held in Vietnam from mid-March to early April to celebrate International Francophonie Day, announced Anissa Barrak, Director of the Asia-Pacific office of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).

Barrak annouced on March 12 that the official ceremony will be held on March 20 in Hanoi with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the chair.

On this occasion, a workshop onVietnam’s French-speaking job market will be jointly held by both sides along with film shows in Hanoi, Vinh, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City, concerts, and exhibitions at the French Cultural Centre L’Espace, she added. 

Barrak described International Francophonie Day as a festival for French speakers and those who believe in solidarity and equality. 

French is the first language of 220 million people in the world and used by 900 million people in 77 OIF member countries.
