Activities held to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

Various activities have been held across the country to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (which falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month).

The 2016 “Full-Moon Festival - Lighting up Vietnamese children’s dreams” programme organised in Danang City on September 11, saw the presence of Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

Themed “ship of dreams”, this year’s event aims to nurture Vietnamese children’s love for their homeland, especially in regards to the nation’s sea and islands.

On the occasion, the organising board presented gifts to 200 children from the central coastal localities of Quang Tri, Thua-Thien-Hue, Danang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.

In Quang Tri province, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh also visited and presented gifts to children with special needs in the province on September 11.

She presented 100 FPT’s scholarships, each worth VND1.2 million, to children affected with Agent Orange/Dioxin; 100 gifts, each worth VND1 million, to children who are living in difficult circumstances after the recent marine environmental pollution incident; and VND50 million to the 'Fund for the poor' of the province.

In addition, all of the children also received Mid-Autumn gifts, each worth VND500,000 from sponsors at the event.

The provincial Study Encouragement Association also presented scholarships, each worth from VND1 million to VND2 million, to 157 children with special circumstances in the province.

On the same day, more than 1,000 children with special needs participated in a programme celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival in Vinh city. The event was co-organised by Hoa Sen (Lotus) Group, Nghe An provincial People’s Committee and Ho Chi Minh City People's Public Security Newspaper from September 6-15 in Nghe An, Lam Dong and Ho Chi Minh City.

On the occasion, the Hoa Sen Group presented over 2,500 gifts and 3,000 lanterns to children with special needs.

In Nam Dinh, the provincial Study Encouragement Association presented 1,000 bicycles, worth VND1.1 million, to children with special needs or disabilities and orphans, who have recorded outstanding achievements in their academic results in the province.
