A Vietnamese guestworker murdered in Taiwan

VOV.VN - A Vietnamese guestworker has been killed by a group of Vietnamese kidnappers in Taoyuan city of Taiwan (China), according to the Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

DOLAB quoted the police of Taoyuan saying V.V.H. hailing from Hai Duong province, northern Vietnam, did not go to work on March 7.

Two days later, his relatives from Vietnam said he had been kidnapped and blackmailed due to a debt.

More than a month later, the police detained a group of five Vietnamese nationals who confessed carrying out the abduction.

These people murdered the male guestworker and dumped the victim’s body on the sugarcane hillside in a commune of Yunlin district.

The case is being handled by local authorities.

The guestworker entered Taiwan to work for a factory in Taoyuan city under a labour contract in October 2023.

The workers management agency under the Vietnam Economic-Culture Office in Taipei has requested the company that had sent the guestworker to work in Taiwan to make an announcement and extend condolences to the bereaved family.

The company is currently working along with the Taiwanese broker company to support relatives of the murdered guestworker to do post-mortem procedures to ensure his rights and interests.
