A teacher with great passion for scientific research

VOV.VN - Meritorious teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa is the director of the Social Work Development and Research Center of the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities.  Hoa has won a 2018 Vietnam Women’s Award for her great contribution to scientific research.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa has worked for more than 30 years at the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, part of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Her student-centered teaching method promotes student independence, creativity, and teamwork.

“For each project, the students need to read a lot on their own initiative. I enliven my lessons with meterial drawn from fact-finding tours. The students’ keen interest in the lesson is a great encouragement to me,” Hoa said.

Teacher Hoa has been to most of Vietnam’s provinces and cities and nearly 20 foreign countries to conduct research on women, gender equality, and families. She was the editor-in-chief of a textbook on social work with disabled people which is now used at a number of universities and colleges.

“Our research has been translated into Party and State policies. I’m very happy that I’ve been able to contribute something to society,” Hoa said.

During her 30-year teaching career, Hoa has collected many unforgettable memories with her students.

“Ms. Hoa is respected by the students for her enthusiasm and broad knowledge. Her lessons are very useful and encourage her students’ creativity,” student Bui Thanh Minh said.

Ms. Hoa said the affection and interest of her students are what has motivated her teaching career.
