8,497 new COVID-19 cases detected over 24 hours

VOV.VN - The nation recorded 8,497 COVID-19 infections, including 16 imported cases, over the past 24 hours marking a fall of 495 cases compared to the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported on November 13.

The latest cases therefore bring the national tally to 1,018,736.

Ho Chi Minh City reported the highest number of infections with 1,240, trailed by neighbouring Dong Nai province with 743, and Binh Duong province with 631.

A total of 1,843 recoveries were also reported on November 13 to take the total number of patients given the all-clear to 858,054.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 3,824 patients nationwide are currently in a serious conditions, with 319 requiring invasive ventilation and 15 on life support (ECMO).

Furthermore, the country also saw 88 deaths caused by the virus on November 13, raising the total fatalities to 23,018.

Over 97.9 million vaccine doses have now been administered to date, with over 33.7 million people having received two doses.

Elsewhere, Ho Chi Minh City will need more than 18 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2022 in order to give adults booster shots and immunise children aged three and above.

More than 14.4 million doses are therefore required for booster shots, along with over 1.5 million doses to vaccinate children aged 12 to 17, and more than two million for children aged three to 11, according to Nguyen Hoai Nam, director of the city’s Health Department.

Most notably. from now until the year-end the southern city will need around four million doses for children aged 12 and above.

The vaccines required this year include 696,000 AstraZeneca, more than 60,000 Pfizer, and over 264,000 Sinopharm doses.
