8 killed, 7 injured in tragic head-on car crash in Binh Thuan
VOV.VN - At least eight people were killed and seven were injured following a tragic road traffic collision between a passenger coach and a truck in Binh Thuan province, southern Vietnam, early on July 21.
The accident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. at km 1767 on National Highway 1A in Tan Duc commune of Ham Tan district.
Local police said a 16-seater passenger coach was traveling from Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh City when it suddenly crashed into an incoming truck.
The crash was so strong that both vehicles were seriously deformed.
Six people were killed at the scene while nine injured people were transferred to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, another person died on the way to the hospital and another died at the hospital.
All the dead victims were on board the passenger coach, including the driver. They mostly live in Binh Thuan province. The truck’s driver luckily survived the accident.
Upon receiving news of the crash, Chairman of the provincial People Committee Nguyen Van Hai immediately made his way to the scene to assist with rescue work.
The coach was said to run in the wrong lane when the accident happened. Both vehicles were not overspeeding, according to local police.
The cause of the tragic accident is under investigation.
