7kg of drugs discovered in parcels sent through postal service

VOV.VN -The Anti-drug Enforcement Team, working under the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, discovered several packages containing smuggled drugs from Europe that had been sent by international postal services on May 8.

After discovering numerous suspicious items, the police force carried out an inspection of three parcels, including two from Portugal and another from Germany.
Inside the parcels they discovered approximately 7.4 kg of drugs.
Police forces were able to identify the pills as ecstasy, scientifically known as Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, also known as MDMA.
The drugs had been hidden within carton boxes, stuffed animals, CD players, and bags of clothes.
The parcels had been sent to fake recipients and addresses.
If the police had not made the discovery, a criminal contact involved in the operation in Vietnam would have contacted the postal service directly in order to receive the package.

The case is currently under further investigation.
