42 Vietnamese nationals deported from US repatriated

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City police and relevant agencies have received 42 Vietnamese citizens deported from the United States, some of whom face difficulties finding accommodation, obtaining documents and contacting their families after returning home.

The reception, the sixth of its kind this year carried out under an agreement between Vietnam and the United States on the readmission of Vietnamese citizens, took place at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on September 16.

According to the Immigration Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, most of the citizens in this group had resided in Ho Chi Minh City before leaving Vietnam. During their time in the United States, they either violated the law or no longer met the requirements for lawful residence and were deported to Vietnam.

After living abroad for an extended period, some citizens faced difficulties in the first days after their return, including replacing identity documents, contacting relatives, finding accommodation or seeking employment.

Some no longer had relatives able to receive them or had lost contact with their families for a long period. These cases required assistance in securing temporary accommodation and gradually rebuilding their lives.

The Ho Chi Minh City police working team reviewed the circumstances of each individual, identified their places of residence and relatives, and coordinated with relevant agencies and local authorities to support those facing difficulties.

Those unable to contact relatives, without stable accommodation or in particularly difficult circumstances, including the elderly and people in poor health, are being provided with temporary care and assistance at social welfare facilities in Ho Chi Minh City.

The support is aimed at helping the returnees stabilise their lives and reintegrate into the community.
