344 Vietnamese received from Cambodia, four wanted persons identified

VOV.VN - Border guards received 344 Vietnamese citizens handed over by the Cambodian side at Hoa Lu International Border Gate on March 17, where four people were found to be wanted under decisions issued by police in several provinces and cities.

The handover was carried out under the Dong Nai provincial Border Guard command. Most of the citizens had been detained or rescued by Cambodian forces from scam facilities during a recent inspection and crackdown.

Preliminary checks showed the group had permanent residence in 32 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak, An Giang and Can Tho, while some had no identified place of residence. Among them, 21 were residents of local communes and wards in Dong Nai province.

Immediately after the handover, border guards, police and health workers coordinated to implement screening and identity verification. At the checkpoint, officers checked identification documents and quickly collected information on their residence and work in Cambodia.

Health workers conducted initial medical examinations to ensure the citizens met entry conditions and to screen for infectious diseases. Priority cases such as the elderly, women and children were given support to complete procedures quickly.

A representative of the Hoa Lu International Border Gate border post said that through screening, four individuals were detected as being wanted under decisions issued by police in several localities. They were immediately separated for case files to be prepared and handed over to competent agencies for handling in accordance with the law.

For the remaining citizens, after checks and classification were completed, forces guided them to contact their families and local authorities to stabilise their lives. Those in particularly difficult circumstances were provided with essential supplies and transport support.

The timely detection of wanted persons and the safe reception of a large number of citizens underscored the border guards’ role in border management and citizen protection, helping maintain security and order in border gate areas.
