3,000 people join up for Earth Hour 2018
VOV.VN - About 3,000 people are expected to participate in a launch ceremony for the Earth Hour 2018 campaign in Hanoi on March 3.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Earth Hour campaign is the most important event to connect and report on the activities of Earth Hour 2018 and disseminate information on the program to more than 90 million of people.
A series of activities will be held in response to the campaign from the launch ceremony to the official switch-off day for major events.
There will be diverse activities to promote the Earth Hour campaign at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on March 5 and at Chu Van An High School on March 12. Events will include an exchange with the ambassador of the campaign and a presentation on energy saving solutions for daily life.
In addition, a wide range of Greener Garden activities for families in Hanoi is designed to make living spaces around urban areas greener and reduce the use of plastic bags. A walking initiative on pedestrian streets and around Hanoi’s Old Quarter is to be launched on March 11 in response to Earth Hour with the participation of the campaign’s ambassador.
Furthermore, a competition on green innovation will open for students of colleges and universities as part of the event.
Last year, Vietnam saved 471,000 KWh of electricity after asking residents to switch off unnecessary electrical devices for one hour in response to the Earth Hour campaign.
