229kg of heroin transported from HCM City to Taiwan
The customs department and police are investigating the transport of 229kg of heroin from Vietnam to Taiwan earlier this month.
The heroin, worth US$300 million, was sent by a HCM City-based forwarding company aboard China Airlines aircraft on orders from another city-based company.
The identities of the consignor and consignee have not been disclosed.
The consignment was registered as containing 12 speakers weighing 400kg, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.

It was delivered to Tan Son Nhat Cargo Services on November 15, placed in a box, and loaded on an aeroplane transiting through Tan Son Nhat Airport on November 16.
Shortly after the plane landed at Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, Taiwan, at 3.20am on November 17, the consignment was inspected by authorities.
Sniffer dogs found 229kg of heroin hidden inside the speakers and covered with chocolate to avoid being detected by the dogs.
Seven people have been arrested by Taiwanese authorities.
The media there called it the biggest consignment of drugs transported by air into Taiwan in the last two decades.
China Airlines also said it was the biggest bust in its history.
