VOV.VN - The international round of the World Youth Chemistry Talent Olympiad (WYCTO 2026) concluded in Ninh Binh province, Vietnam, honoring 225 contestants from 11 countries and territories.
Designed for secondary and high school students, WYCTO aims to discover young chemistry talents, foster scientific thinking, and promote international academic exchange. The competition features three divisions: Junior (grades 6 to 8), Intermediate (grades 9 and 10), and Senior (grades 11 and 12).
The international round running from October 22 to 25, drew 225 contestants from Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Mongolia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Romania, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
Participants competed in two primary categories: an individual round conducted entirely in English focusing on fundamental and applied chemistry knowledge, and a team round structured as a three-stage relay evaluating collaborative problem-solving skills.
Alongside academic contests, delegations joined cultural experiences in Ninh Binh on October 24, touring the Trang An landscape complex and traditional craft villages specializing in soap-making, pottery, and fabric dyeing, while exploring historical landmarks in Hoa Lu to connect chemical concepts with practical applications.
The honouring ceremony officially recognized the outstanding achievements of contestants and teams, marking the successful conclusion of WYCTO 2026 as a growing global platform for young science enthusiasts.
