22 Vietnamese citizens deported from the US return home
VOV.VN - Vietnamese authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have just received 22 citizens deported from the United States and are now assessing their individual circumstances to determine appropriate support measures.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Immigration Office on November 3, most of the returnees had lived in Ho Chi Minh City before leaving Vietnam. They had violated US laws during their stay and no longer met the requirements for lawful residence, leading to their deportation and handover to Vietnamese authorities.
The repatriation process was carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring diplomatic, security and safety requirements while protecting the citizens' legitimate rights and interests.
Authorities identified a number of difficulties facing some of the returnees, including a lack of personal identification documents, loss of contact with family members, unstable accommodation, challenges in finding employment and psychological distress.
Ho Chi Minh City police have reviewed each individual's circumstances to determine appropriate support measures. They have also called on the public to show understanding and support, helping the returnees stabilise their lives and reintegrate into the community.
The Municipal Immigration Office advised Vietnamese citizens travelling abroad for study, employment, tourism or settlement to familiarise themselves with and comply with Vietnamese laws and those of their destination countries.
It also warned against illegal entry or exit, unauthorised residence or employment, the use of forged documents and involvement in networks facilitating illegal migration.
Ho Chi Minh City Police said they would continue to prevent, detect and handle violations of regulations on immigration and residence in accordance with the law.
