208 Indian students enroll in medical programme in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Dai Nam University (DNU) in Hanoi held an opening ceremony on October 10 for 208 Indian students enrolling in the medical programme.

The event was attended by representatives from the National Assembly of Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Indian Embassy, partner hospitals, and other stakeholders.
This marks the first time a university in northern Vietnam has launched a fully accredited international medical training programme. Traditionally, Indian students seeking medical education abroad have chosen countries like Russia or China. The decision by this group of students to study in Vietnam reflects a growing confidence in the country’s higher education offerings.
All 208 students admitted to the programme successfully passed India’s NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) - a highly competitive and mandatory examination for entry into medical school - and hold IELTS scores of 6.5 or higher, indicating strong academic and language proficiency.
The international medical doctor programme at DNU spans six years, taught 100% in English, comprising two years of foundational medical theory and four years of clinical practice at major hospitals across Hanoi. The curriculum follows international standards, integrating classroom learning, simulation-based training, and real-life clinical experience.
A highlight of the programme is the integration of a Global Digital Passport, a digital academic and career portfolio that tracks students’ competencies and development. This enables graduates to pursue careers not only in India but also in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and throughout Europe.
Experts believe that Dai Nam University’s pioneering role in launching an international-standard medical programme in Northern Vietnam could serve as a model for Vietnam’s future education export strategy, an approach already successfully adopted by regional countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
