2 dead, 1 missing as Mirinae hits northern Vietnam

Typhoon Mirinae made landfall in northern Vietnam on July 27, killing at least two people and leaving a trail of destruction.

Mirinae, the first typhoon of the season, landed in Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh Provinces at 10 p.m.

A tree was uprooted when typhoon Mirinae hit Hanoi

According to the National Committee for Search and Rescue, on July 28 two people were reported killed by the typhoon in Hanoi and Hung Yen Province, and a fisherman is listed as missing after his boat was sunk by strong waves in Thanh Hoa Province.

Eleven other people were injured, and strong winds collapsed 11 houses and blew away roofs of 278 houses. Heavy rains and strong winds also uprooted nearly 32,800 trees and more than 200 utility poles.
Flooding inundated more than 110,000 hectares of rice farmland in Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh, according to committee.
According to Vietnam News Agency, eight flights from the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and eight others from Jetstar Pacific Airlines were delayed from taking off at Noi Bai International Airport while other six Vietnam Airlines flights coming to Hanoi have been halted temporarily.
