11 people trapped in forest by floods rescued in Quang Tri
VOV.VN - Authorities in Quang Tri Province have rescued 11 local residents left stranded in the forest due to rising floodwaters caused by recent storms Kajiki and, most recently, Nongfa.

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Police, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department received a report on the evening of August 30 that six people collecting acacia wood in Hieu Giang commune were trapped by floodwaters.
They immediately dispatched one fire truck, one canoe, and 21 officers to the scene. After several hours of operation in swift-flowing floodwaters, rescuers reached the group and brought all six people to safety at 9:20 p.m. the same day.
Earlier that afternoon, the police, in coordination with other units, also saved five others who were stranded on the other side of a spillway due to rising waters. Thanks to timely support, the victims were provided with food and drinking water before being transported to safety by canoe.
Localities in the central region are struggling to cope with rising floodwaters in the wake of typhoon Kajiki and, most recently Nongfa. Nongfa, after making landfall on August 30, was downgraded to a tropical depression, dumping heavy rain on the localities.
Local authorities and rescue forces continue to monitor the situation and prepare response plans, as the circulation of Storm Nongfa is still bringing heavy rains across central Vietnam, raising risks of landslides, flashfloods, and inundation.
